Why Locals Love Gangnam Korean BBQ

Gangnam Korean BBQ brings an authentic and vibrant Korean barbecue experience to the heart of Adelaide’s bustling Gouger Street. This buffet-style Asian fusion restaurant is a paradise for meat lovers and adventurous diners alike, offering a delightful spread of Korean-inspired dishes infused with fresh, bold flavors.

The standout feature here is undoubtedly the interactive grilling experience. Diners gather around personal electric grills, patiently cooking marinated chicken thighs, succulent chicken hearts, crispy Orleans chicken wings, and tender chicken gizzards. Each bite bursts with a smoky, savory richness that’s both comforting and exciting. Pair these with a selection of cold dishes like the refreshing seaweed salad, tangy kimchi, and delightfully crisp sweet and sour cucumber – a perfect balance to the hearty grilled meats.

Appetizers such as the homemade spicy fries and fried mini vegetarian dumplings provide comforting textures and nostalgic flavors, making it easy to snack between grilling sessions. The seaweed roll and fried chicken also come highly recommended, offering a textural contrast that elevates the overall dining experience.

The atmosphere at Gangnam Korean BBQ is casual and lively, ideal for small groups and friends looking to relax and savor their meals at their own pace. While the 1.5-hour dining window requires a little planning, the friendly and approachable staff are on hand to guide newcomers through the ordering process, easing any first-timer nerves. Although the cooking time can feel a bit long given the use of electric grills, it only builds anticipation for the reward of perfectly charred, juicy meats.

Customer reviews reflect a genuine affection for the food’s freshness and flavor variety, with many praising the warm service and inviting ambiance. Some patrons note occasional shortages of specific dishes but appreciate the overall selection and value for a $39.80 buffet. The honesty about some less-than-Korean flavors hints at the restaurant’s unique fusion influences, offering a fresh take on traditional Korean barbecue.

For visitors seeking an engaging, flavorsome dining journey where the sizzle of the grill and the umami depth of Korean seasoning come together, Gangnam Korean BBQ stands out as a must-visit destination in Adelaide’s dynamic food scene.

funny gangnam name is listed different on shop font and google. Anyway let's tackle in. Eating here needs some kind of strategy. Because you got 1 .5 hr to eat and 1hr ordering time from kitchen. Also it's take time to cook maybe like 5-10 mins to cook as it's using electricity to cook. Overall the food is yummy. Ordering is easy done via phone. We ordered kimchi fried rice - 1 bowl is enough to be shared by 4 ppl. Fried stuff like seaweed roll is recommended. Chicken wing come by 1no. And others as well. Any stuff that's comes on skewers can cook faster than meat placed in metal rack. Drinks is free and any wasted foods is additional $5 per 100g. So yea. Have a plan when u go there to eat. Don't be fooled by pretty fire pictures. Good: fried foods like fried rice, seaweed roll. Good: Meats like beef, pork etc Bad: seafood like crab roll, prawn. Oh yea lettuce is huge as well. Enough for 2 ppl.

We visited Gangnam Korean BBQ on a Tuesday evening, and it was not too crowded. The staff were friendly and warmly introduced us to the food and buffet rules since it was our first time. I must say, they have more choices compared to other BBQ buffets. I did experience some items running out, as mentioned in other reviews, but there were still plenty of options available. For $39.80 per person on a weekday, I think it's reasonable. The quality of the BBQ is good, and while the skewers are smaller than usual, you can order multiple times, which isn’t a problem. Just be careful, as smaller pieces can burn more easily. Their all-you-can-eat deal also includes regular soft drinks, which is a nice touch. I highly recommend the chicken skewers; I’m not usually a chicken fan, but their marinated flavor was great, so we ordered it twice more. Unfortunately, by the last order, they ran out, so we got plain chicken skewers instead. I appreciate the effort to prepare the skewers, but it would be helpful if they could check with customers before running out. One last point is their strict time limit; the self-ordering system locks after 60 minutes. The friendly staff will remind you to place your last order, so be sure to do it quickly and not get too caught up in conversation!

If you show them you’ve given them a 5 star review on Google, you get a free juice or dessert. Obviously we stuck with a less bias reviewed instead. Not really Korean, flavoured proteins flavoured with the intense spices recognisable to be more northern China-like flavours with one serve of Korean sides shared between 6 people and no offer of refills. The concept of the grill on the meat skewers were cute rotating device. Customer service friendly. Food was fresh and place was clean and airy with not a lot of smoke despite mostly full house. Surcharge on eftpos use. Fav dishes were beef ribs, spicy pickled radish & cucumber & cold noodles. Spent around $50pp.

Great atmosphere food and service was good. The bbq food was really good but took a while to cook, got really hot and was scared some were still raw. Service was good but would be better if the staff would automatically come and take the dishes instead of being asked. Vibe was great and overall a good experience.

We came on a quiet weekday night. Service was fast and accommodating. Everything we had was very yummy. Apart from the grilled meats we had kimchi friend rice, cucumber salad, a soup and they were all very good. This place is reasonably priced and I will definitely come back.

I had such a fantastic experience at Gangnam Korean BBQ in Adelaide. From the moment we walked in, the staff were warm, welcoming, and attentive, making sure we felt comfortable and had everything we needed throughout the meal. The food was absolutely outstanding. Every dish was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The meats were high quality and perfectly marinated, and it was so much fun grilling them at the table. The side dishes were plentiful and delicious, with a great variety that complemented the BBQ perfectly. The atmosphere was lively and inviting, with a great balance between traditional Korean style and a modern, vibrant vibe. It's the kind of place that makes you want to linger, enjoy, and share with friends. Gangnam Korean BBQ is easily one of the best dining experiences I've had in Adelaide. Highly recommend it to anyone who loves great food, great service, and a memorable evening out!
